PDF Page Size Analyzer

List the width, height, orientation and paper size of every page in a PDF, and see whether the sizes are mixed.

Free to use No sign-up required Files deleted after processing

Upload a PDF to get one row per page: its width and height in points, its orientation and, where it matches, a standard paper size such as A4, Letter or A3. If the pages are not all the same size, a warning is shown at the top. It is useful before printing, or after merging files. It reports each page's stored size, so a page that is only turned by a rotation setting still shows its original width and height.

Overview

About PDF Page Size Analyzer

What the table shows

For every page, up to 200 pages, you get the page number, its size in points, its orientation (portrait, landscape or square) and the standard size it matches. A point is 1/72 of an inch, so A4 is 595.28 × 841.89 points (210 × 297 mm) and US Letter is 612 × 792. The standard-size label comes from Poppler, the PDF library used here, and appears only when the page is close to a known size. Our test file showed A4, Letter, A3 and, for a poster page, A0. A page that matches nothing is still listed with its exact size.

Example: a merged file with four different pages

PageSize in pointsOrientationStandard
1595.28 × 841.89PortraitA4
2841.89 × 595.28LandscapeA4
3612 × 792PortraitLetter
4841.89 × 1190.55PortraitA3

Generated locally; not a benchmark; not a guaranteed result. This is a generated test file. The tool flagged it as having mixed sizes. A page that is A4 but landscape also counts as a different size from A4 portrait, so one rotated-looking page is enough to raise the warning.

The rotation catch

The size reported is the page's stored size. A page that carries a rotation setting, such as those turned by Rotate PDF, still shows its original width and height. In our test, a portrait A4 page rotated 90° was reported as portrait 595.28 × 841.89, although it displays as landscape. A viewer or converter that respects the rotation, like PDF to JPG, draws it landscape. So if the table says "portrait" and the page looks landscape, check for a rotation setting.

Why it needs an upload

Some competing checkers read the file locally. This one sends it to our server, which reads the sizes with Poppler and then discards it. No output file is created. For other checks on the same PDF, PDF Information gives the page count, version and encryption flag, and the Merge PDF page explains why combined files can end up with mixed sizes.

Compatibility

Supported Formats

Accepts PDF files up to 20 MB and 200 pages, identified by their contents. The result is a table on the page; no file is produced. Files that need a password to open are rejected.

Good to Know

Limitations

Reports each page's stored size; a page-rotation setting is not applied, so a rotated page keeps its original width and height in the table. Sizes are in points, with no inch or millimetre toggle. Standard names come from Poppler and appear only for close matches. Nothing is resized or corrected. The file is uploaded to our server for the check.

Files are processed on our servers and are not shared with third parties. Files are deleted as soon as processing or download finishes. Any leftover temporary file is removed automatically by our cleanup process within the configured retention period (60 minutes). See our Privacy Policy for full details.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a point, and how do I convert it?

A point is 1/72 of an inch. Divide by 72 for inches, or multiply by 0.3528 for millimetres. A4 is 595.28 × 841.89 points, which is 210 × 297 mm.

Why does it say mixed sizes when all my pages look the same?

Sizes are compared after rounding to whole points, so even a small difference counts. A landscape A4 page also differs from portrait A4. Check the table to see which pages differ.

Does it take page rotation into account?

No. It reports the stored size, so a page rotated by a rotation setting is listed with its original width and height, even though it displays turned.

Which paper sizes are recognised?

Common ones such as A4, A3, A0 and Letter showed up in our tests. The label appears only when a page is close to a known size; other pages are still listed with exact dimensions.

Can it fix mixed sizes?

No. It only reports. Nothing is resized or changed, and no file is created.
