Office, Email & E-book Tools

Not every document is a PDF. Word, Excel and PowerPoint files carry author names, comments, hidden sheets and sometimes macros or links to other files; Word headings and Excel print settings decide how a long document reads and prints; a CSV export can contain cells that a spreadsheet reads as formulas; saved emails come as .msg or .eml files that need the right program to open; and an EPUB e-book can be built in ways that work well or badly for people who read with assistive technology. These tools deal with those jobs.

All of them run in your browser. The file is opened on your device and is not uploaded. The metadata tool and the CSV cleaner write a changed copy and leave the original alone; the macro scanner, the heading checker and the print preflight only read; the email viewer never runs scripts in a message and blocks remote content; the EPUB checker reads the book and reports what a program can see.

They are honest about limits. Removing metadata does not make a document anonymous, the macro scanner is a structural inspection and not an antivirus, a displayed email is a reading copy of the file and not a judgement that it is safe, page counts for Excel are estimates, and an accessibility preflight is neither a WCAG conformance statement nor a legal assessment.

Office documents

See what a Word, Excel or PowerPoint file reveals, scan it for macros and outside links, check Word headings and write a cleaned copy.

Spreadsheets and CSV

Check an Excel workbook before printing and clean a CSV export of cells that a spreadsheet could read as formulas.

Email files

Open an Outlook .msg or standard .eml file, read it safely and save its attachments.

E-books

Check an EPUB for accessibility metadata, structure and content problems.

Which tool do I need?

  • I am about to send a Word, Excel or PowerPoint file and do not want my name or comments in it

Use Office Document Inspector & Metadata Remover. Lists authors, comments, tracked-change names, hidden sheets and notes first, then writes a cleaned copy.

  • I received an Office file and want to know whether it contains macros or links before I open it

Use Office Embedded Object & Macro Risk Scanner. Lists VBA, ActiveX, embedded objects, remote templates and external links with severity. A structural scan, not an antivirus.

  • My Excel sheet prints on too many pages or with tiny text

Use Excel Print Layout Preflight Checker. Reads print area, scaling, page breaks, header rows and hidden sheets and gives PASS, WARNING or FAIL with the setting to change.

  • My CSV export opens with strange cells in Excel, or I want to protect it

Use CSV Formula Injection Scanner & Cleaner. Finds cells that start with = + - @ and writes a cleaned copy that changes only those cells.

  • My thesis or report has a broken table of contents or wrong section numbers

Use DOCX Heading & Numbering Structure Checker. Finds skipped heading levels, fake headings, duplicate numbers and a stale table of contents, with the paragraph for each.

  • I have a .msg or .eml file and no Outlook

Use MSG & EML Email Viewer. Shows headers, body and attachments in the browser, with scripts and remote content blocked.

  • I publish an EPUB and want to find accessibility problems

Use EPUB Accessibility Checker. Reports missing metadata, alt text, headings, navigation and more, with WCAG references. It is a preflight, not a verdict.
