(In English: most unpayable QR-bills have a formal fault in the code; this tool reads it and checks it.)
It shows every field in plain language and states which version of the guideline it checked against. The check is technical: it does not confirm that a bill is genuine or that your bank will accept it.

About Swiss QR-Bill Reader & Checker
Reading the code. The tool renders PDF pages and scans them for a QR code (a bottom-of-page payment part is the usual place), or reads an image or screenshot, trying several scales and overlapping tiles because decoders are sensitive to module size. If you already have the decoded text from a scanner you can paste it instead. Text that does not begin with SPC is not shown at all and is reported as not being a Swiss QR-bill.
What is checked. Following Table 8 and chapters 4 and 7 of the guideline: header (SPC, version 0200, coding 1); the creditor IBAN (checksum, 21 characters, country CH or LI); the creditor address, which has to be structured (type S) with name up to 70, street up to 70, building number up to 16, postal code up to 16, town up to 35 and a two-letter country; the optional debtor in the same form; the amount (two decimals, no leading zeros, 0.01 to 999,999,999.99, or empty if the payer chooses; 0.00 only for the "do not use for payment" notice); the currency (CHF or EUR); the reference type with its permitted combinations; the 140-character limit for message plus billing information; the trailer EPD; up to two alternative-procedure lines; the 997-character maximum; and the permitted character set.
QR-IBAN and references. A QR-IBAN is a Swiss or Liechtenstein IBAN whose institution identifier (digits 5 to 9) is between 30000 and 31999; it must go with a 27-digit QR reference (type QRR, modulo-10 recursive check digit). A normal IBAN goes with a creditor reference (SCOR, ISO 11649 with mod 97-10 check digits) or with no reference (NON). The tool flags every other combination.
Versions. The checks follow the Swiss Implementation Guidelines for the QR-bill, version 2.4 (24 February 2026), which applies from 14 November 2026 and replaces 2.3 of 21 November 2025; version 2.3 stays valid until November 2027. The header value stays 0200 in both. Version 2.4 brings no technical change for invoices in Swiss francs; for euro invoices only the combination of an IBAN with an SCOR reference or an unstructured message remains, and a QR-IBAN with a QR reference is for CHF only. QR-bills in euro are to be processed as SEPA credit transfers after November 2027 at the latest. The result block restates what applies to the currency of the code you read.

Good to Know
Limitations
Only the data in the QR code is checked. The printed payment part and receipt (layout, fonts, the Swiss cross, the 46 × 46 mm size) are not examined, and neither is whether the account exists or who the creditor really is. A photo with glare, blur or a small code may not decode; try a sharper image or paste the text.
The tool does not say that a QR-bill is mandatory for any invoice and does not give legal advice. Banks apply their own processing, and the guideline is versioned: a bill valid under one version may need changes under the next.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is my QR-bill uploaded?
No. The file is read in your browser, and the payment data is not stored, logged or sent anywhere.
Which guideline version does it check?
Version 2.4 of the Swiss Implementation Guidelines (24 February 2026, valid from 14 November 2026). Version 2.3 stays valid until November 2027; the header value 0200 is the same in both, and the tool tells you which parts matter for your currency.
What is the difference between QR-IBAN and IBAN?
A QR-IBAN has an institution identifier from 30000 to 31999 and is used with a QR reference (QRR). A normal IBAN is used with a creditor reference (SCOR) or no reference (NON). Mixing them is an error.
Why is a QR-IBAN with a QR reference rejected for EUR?
Under version 2.4 the QR-IBAN and the QR reference are used exclusively for orders in CHF. For EUR only an IBAN with a creditor reference or an unstructured message is possible.
Does a clean result mean my bank will accept the bill?
No. It means the data in the code passed these technical checks. Banks apply their own processing.
Is the Swiss QR-bill mandatory?
This tool does not make that claim. It checks the data of a QR-bill that you have; whether a QR-bill is required for a given invoice is outside its scope.
