TIFF files are common from scanners and print workflows, and most websites, forms and phones cannot open them. This tool turns a single-page TIFF into a JPG at quality 85. It does not handle multi-page TIFFs: those are rejected with a message, not converted partly, so a scanned document saved as one multi-page TIFF needs a different tool first.

Overview
About TIFF to JPG
What the converter does
The TIFF is read with ImageMagick, converted to the sRGB colour space, flattened onto a white background and saved as a JPG at quality 85. Metadata is not copied, and no colour profile is embedded in the JPG. Width and height are kept. The limits are 20 MB for the upload, 12,000 pixels per side and 40 megapixels for the picture, checked before conversion.
Which TIFFs worked in our tests
| Test TIFF (1200 × 800 unless noted) | TIFF size | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Uncompressed RGB | 2.75 MB | JPG, 68 KB |
| LZW-compressed RGB | 1.80 MB | JPG, 68 KB |
| CMYK, uncompressed | 3.66 MB | RGB JPG, 68 KB |
| 16-bit per channel | 5.49 MB | JPG, 68 KB |
| Transparent logo, 300 × 200 | 235 KB | JPG on white, 4.6 KB |
| Two pages | - | Rejected: "This TIFF file has multiple pages." |
Generated locally; not a benchmark; not a guaranteed result. The four versions of the same picture gave the same JPG size, which shows how much of a TIFF's weight is storage rather than picture content. We converted synthetic images, so we cannot say how your scans will compare, but an uncompressed TIFF dropping to a few per cent of its size is typical of the difference between uncompressed and compressed storage. The CMYK test file gave the same colour as the RGB one at the pixel we sampled; a real print-profile CMYK file can still shift colours slightly because it is converted to sRGB without an embedded profile.
Multi-page TIFFs
A TIFF can hold many pages, which is how some scanners save a whole document. This tool rejects such a file with "Only single-page TIFF files are supported" rather than quietly converting only the first page. Several other converters instead split the pages into separate JPGs in a ZIP; this site does not do that. To convert a multi-page TIFF, split it into single pages with a desktop program first.
TIFF or JPG?
Keep the TIFF as your archive copy if the scan matters, and use the JPG for sending or publishing. JPG is lossy, so converting back to TIFF does not restore anything. To shrink the JPG further, resize it or run it through the JPG Compressor. If colours look off, the Image Color Profile Checker can show whether the file carries a colour profile.
Compatibility
Supported Formats
Accepts TIFF (.tif, .tiff) with a single page. The result is always a JPG. Limits: 20 MB, 12,000 px per side and 40 megapixels. Multi-page TIFFs and other formats are rejected.
Guide

Highlights
Features
- Single-page files only A multi-page TIFF is rejected with a clear message, not converted partly.
- CMYK and 16-bit accepted Both converted to an RGB JPG in our tests.
- Transparency flattened to white A TIFF with an alpha channel comes out on a white background.
- Fixed quality 85 There is no slider; the same setting is used for every file.
Applications
Use Cases
- Making a scanned page or photo small enough to email

- Getting a preview image from a print-ready or archival file
Good to Know
Limitations
Single-page TIFFs only; multi-page files are rejected and are not split. Quality is fixed at 85 and JPG is lossy. Transparency becomes white. Colour is converted to sRGB without an embedded profile, so a colour-managed or CMYK print file can look slightly different. Metadata is not kept.
Files are processed on our servers and are not shared with third parties. Files are deleted as soon as processing or download finishes. Any leftover temporary file is removed automatically by our cleanup process within the configured retention period (60 minutes). See our Privacy Policy for full details.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why was my TIFF rejected as multi-page?
Some scanners save every page of a document into one TIFF. This tool converts single-page files only and will not silently keep just the first page. Split the file into pages first.
Can this convert every page of a TIFF into separate JPGs?
No. There is no page splitting and no ZIP download here.
Will CMYK or 16-bit TIFFs work?
Yes. Both converted to RGB JPGs in our tests. Colours from a print profile can shift slightly because the JPG has no embedded profile.
How much smaller will the JPG be?
Much smaller for scans and photos: our 1200 × 800 test TIFFs of 1.8 to 5.5 MB all became a 68 KB JPG. The exact result depends on how detailed the picture is.
What happens to transparency in a TIFF?
It is flattened onto white. Our transparent test logo came out as a coloured shape on white.
