HEIC to JPG Converter

Convert an iPhone HEIC photo to JPG — works everywhere JPG is accepted.

Free to use No sign-up required Files deleted after processing

Upload an iPhone HEIC photo and get back a standard JPG that opens anywhere — no app or plugin needed on the other end. Only the file's primary image is converted; if the source came from a Live Photo, its motion component isn't included, since JPG has no concept of it.

Accepts HEIC/HEIF · up to 20 MB each

Overview

About HEIC to JPG

HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container) is the photo format iPhones have saved to by default since iOS 11 — it compresses better than JPG at the same visual quality, but a lot of older software, Windows PCs without the HEIC extension installed, and many websites and upload forms still don't accept it. Converting to JPG trades some of that efficiency for near-universal compatibility.

Highlights

Features

  • Real server-side decoding Your HEIC file is genuinely decoded and re-encoded as a JPG using a real HEIC/HEVC decoder — not renamed or faked.
  • Honest about multi-image containers Only the primary image converts; this tool never silently merges or guesses at auxiliary Live Photo frames.
  • Automatic cleanup Your uploaded and converted files are deleted from our server shortly after you download the result.

Applications

Use Cases

  • Upload an iPhone photo to a website, form, or platform that rejects HEIC files
  • Share a photo with someone using older software or a device that can't open HEIC
  • Convert a batch of AirDropped or emailed HEIC photos one at a time into a more universally usable format

Good to Know

Limitations

Only the primary still image converts — a Live Photo's separate motion component is never included, since JPG has no way to represent it. EXIF metadata (camera details, GPS location) is stripped from the output as a privacy default, not carried over from the original HEIC file.

Files are processed on our servers and are not shared with third parties. Files are deleted as soon as processing or download finishes. Any leftover temporary file is removed automatically by our cleanup process within the configured retention period (60 minutes). See our Privacy Policy for full details.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will this reduce my photo's quality?

HEIC and JPG are both lossy formats using different compression methods, so converting between them is not pixel-for-pixel lossless — but at this tool's quality setting, the difference is minor for typical photos.

What happens to Live Photos?

Only the still image is converted. A Live Photo's motion component is stored separately from the HEIC still image, and JPG has no way to represent it at all, so it's not part of the output.

Does the output keep my photo's location or camera info?

No — metadata (EXIF, GPS location, camera details) is stripped from the JPG output as a privacy default, not carried over from the original HEIC file.

Is there a file size or resolution limit?

Yes — uploads and output dimensions are capped to keep processing fast and reliable for everyone; the current upload limit is shown above the upload area.

Can I avoid HEIC entirely from my iPhone?

Yes — Settings → Camera → Formats → "Most Compatible" saves new photos as JPG directly, but this tool is still useful for photos you already have in HEIC.
